FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Saturday, November 17, 2007 Phillies 2008 Poll: Voters Want Debates Between All Candidates In a scientific poll commissioned by the Phillies 2008 campaign, the first complete poll known to have been paid for by a Libertarian Presidential campaign, 64% of voters called for debates between all candidates, with another 11% calling for a mix of two-party- and all-candidate debates." The telephone survey of 1000 Likely Voters ("LVs" in the poll results) was conducted by Pulse Opinion Research on November 8 and 11. Pulse Opinion Research, LLC, is an independent public opinion research firm using automated polling methodology and procedures licensed from Rasmussen Reports, LLC. The question regarding all-candidate debates was one of many questions on the poll ranging from the general support levels for the Libertarian Party to individual campaign issues. The exact wording of the question is: Recent elections have featured television debates limited to the Democratic and Republican Party Presidential candidates. In 2008, would you prefer only a two party debate or do you prefer debates between all candidates? a. Two-party debates b. Debates between all candidates c. A mixture of both d. Not sure The results showed that likely voters believe the debates should be.... Two-party debates 22% Debates between all candidates 64% Mixture of both 11% Not sure 3% "We Americans are about as unanimous as we get on this question," remarked George Phillies, a front runner for the Libertarian Presidential nomination. "By more than 3 to 1 we want all-candidate debates as opposed to debates between only the two major party candidates." The survey also showed support for the Libertarian party soaring from 0.6% to 6% since the last election. "That's ten times the support we had in the last election," said Dr. Phillies, "with no active recruitment campaign.
